Thermal & Drone Imagery
Overview

What this service is.

Thermal imaging and drone surveys aren't gimmicks. They're modern inspection tools that find things conventional inspection methods miss — and they're a core part of how Residential Network operates. We don't sell them as add-ons because we believe they should be standard.

Thermal imaging uses infrared cameras to detect temperature differences invisible to the human eye. Behind a wall that looks normal, thermal can reveal active water leaks, missing or settled insulation, electrical hot spots that signal failing breakers or aluminum wiring, and air leakage around windows and doors. We use professional FLIR equipment on every inspection, indoors and out.

Drone surveys capture detailed aerial photography of roofs, chimneys, gutters, and elevated areas. This is safer than ladder access (no risk of falls), more thorough (full coverage of every roof slope, including areas inaccessible by ladder), and produces visual documentation you can review yourself. Especially valuable for steep roofs, two-story homes, and metal roofs that can't safely be walked.

What's Included

Everything we cover.

  • FLIR thermal imaging — interior, exterior, all key systems
  • Drone aerial photography of full roof and elevated areas
  • Thermal scans of attic, crawlspace, electrical panels
  • Detection of moisture intrusion, insulation gaps, and electrical hot spots
  • High-resolution drone images included in your report
  • No additional fees, ever — included in base inspection price
When To Add This

Is this right for you?

  • It's already included on every inspection we perform.
  • No need to ask — it just happens.
  • If a competing inspector is charging extra for thermal or drone, that's worth noting.
Common Questions

FAQ.

Why do you include these for free?
Two reasons: (1) we believe modern inspections shouldn't have artificial upcharges, and (2) we already own the equipment and have the training, so the marginal cost to add them to each inspection is small. The value to clients is large.
Is the thermal imaging always useful?
It always provides additional coverage, but findings depend on conditions. Some inspections produce dramatic thermal findings (active leaks, missing insulation). Others produce a clean scan — which is itself useful documentation.
What about weather for drone use?
We don't fly in rain, high wind, or restricted airspace. If conditions prevent drone use on inspection day, we'll do a thorough ladder inspection of accessible areas and reschedule the drone portion at no charge.
Are these the same as professional thermography or roof certification?
No. Specialized thermography certifications and formal roof certifications are separate, more rigorous credentials. Our use of these tools is part of a comprehensive home inspection — for cases where you need a stand-alone thermography report or roof certification, we'll refer you to a specialist.
